Northumberland Coast National Landscape - castles, wildlife and unspoilt beaches.
Stretching from Berwick-upon-Tweed to Amble, the Northumberland Coast National Landscape protects some of Britain's finest beaches, wildlife-rich dunes and dramatic castle-studded headlands. Formerly known as the Northumberland Coast AONB, this nationally important coastline is celebrated for long sandy bays, big skies and internationally significant birdlife. Highlights include Holy Island (Lindisfarne), Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, Alnmouth and the Farne Islands.
Walk the 100 km
Northumberland Coast Path, watch seabirds and seals around the Farnes, and explore tidal causeways, coastal villages and medieval fortresses. Family days out range from
castle adventures to wide, lifeguarded beaches, rockpooling, boat trips and stargazing under dark skies.
