Driftwood Cottage - one of Portsoy's most photographed seaside cottages.
Driftwood Cottage is one of the most charming and photographed cottages in the coastal town of Portsoy, North East Scotland. With seaside-inspired decor and a prime spot near the 17th century harbour, this much-loved retreat offers character, comfort and easy access to the historic seafront.
Sleeping up to 4 guests, the cottage has a cosy lounge, well equipped kitchen, king size bedroom and modern shower room on the ground floor. Upstairs, a twin bedroom with low ceilings and an adjoining children's play area is reached by narrow, steep stairs - ideal for families with young children or couples seeking a romantic coastal escape.
One standout feature is the beautiful multi-level garden rising behind the cottage. Climb through the terraces to discover three separate seating areas with increasingly spectacular views over the conservation area rooftops and out to sea. The garden includes a BBQ area, fish pond, plenty of outdoor seating and a sheltered sitooterie at the top - perfect for morning coffee or sunset drinks.
Fast, reliable WiFi is provided and well behaved dogs are warmly welcomed. Driftwood Cottage combines all the essentials of modern coastal living with the charm of a traditional Portsoy fisher cottage. For easy navigation and directions, simply

Driftwood Cottage sits in the conservation heart of Portsoy, a lively town with a strong sense of community and maritime heritage. Portsoy hosts the annual Scottish Traditional Boat Festival, is home to the 4 star Salmon Bothy Museum and Marble Shop, and boasts a picturesque 17th century harbour and later New Harbour dating from 1825 - filming locations for Whisky Galore and Peaky Blinders.
From the cottage door, scenic coastal walks run in both directions: west towards Sandend, Findlater Castle and Cullen, or east along the dramatic Coastguard path. Along the way you can discover hidden coves, natural swimming spots, rock pools and expansive sea views. Local favourites such as the Shore Inn and award winning Portsoy Ice Cream are just a short stroll away.
The Banffshire coast has been named one of the world's most beautiful coastlines, with rugged cliffs, golden beaches and abundant wildlife including dolphins, seals and seabirds. Summer brings long light evenings, while in winter clear skies offer excellent stargazing and the chance - if you are lucky - to see the Northern Lights.
