The Old Station, Allerston offering unique self catering accommodation provides an excellent base from which to explore North Yorkshire's countryside, coast and attractions.
The 3 carriages, all ex BR Mk2 First Class Corridor stock, were built in Derby during 1968-9. They are now exceptionally well equipped for self catering, having undergone a comprehensive conversion.
The carriages stand in train formation but are not interconnected. You book a self contained carriage providing kitchen/diner, lounge, 2 or 3 bedrooms and bathroom/wc. All bed linen, towels and tea towels re provided. Clothes washing and drying facilities are freely available in the Staff Tool Van. Cots and high chairs can be provided on request, at no extra charge.
There are 2 acres of grounds providing space for children to play, with open countryside beyond. Each carriage has a picnic table and BBQ's are available. There is a selection of children's toys, games and bicycles. The proprietors are on hand in the station house if advice or information is required. The 16 mile Forge Valley Line was opened by the North Eastern Railway Co. on the 1st May 1882. Wilton Station, (actually located in the nearby village of Allerston), was re-named Ebberston in 1903, The village of Ebberston is located 1 mile to the east of Allerston. The last passenger train on the line ran on the 3rd June 1950.
The Old Station is located in Allerston which situated on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors and Dalby Forest, just 12 miles from the coast.
The attractive market town of Pickering, home of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, is only 5 miles away.
