Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Polkerris Holidays Beside the Sea is a small, family-run static caravan park, which enjoys a relaxed atmosphere.
The park is home to seven modern caravans, arranged carefully on a terraced site overlooking the sea. There are seven caravans in total, arranged in two terraces, five on the upper terrace and two on the lower terrace. They are carefully arranged so that they all have West-facing views across the bay; the upper terrace has slightly better views than the lower but that is offset by easier access to the latter.
The caravans sleep a maximum of six people. There is a room with a double bed, a room with two singles (6x2) and the living room area which has a fold-out double bed. One of the single beds can be stored under the other to make room for a travel cot.
The kitchen has a gas cooker, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and crockery for six people, plus a comprehensive range of cooking utensils. The living room area has a dining table, digital TV/DVD and gas fire. The bathroom has a toilet, basin and shower, with water heated by gas (included in price). There is an electric towel heater in the bathroom, and fan heaters in the bedrooms.
Note that we do not provide travel cots but we do have high chairs, which you can reserve in advance.
Outside each caravan there's a decking area equipped with a table and chairs, a BBQ and a gate to stop the younger ones from roaming! The grassed areas between each caravan are also mowed regularly.
Due to the steep banks, no ball games are allowed but there is a badminton net and rackets which you are welcome to use.
Note that there is no provision for tents, touring caravans or motor-homes.
There are amazing views across St. Austell Bay and the park is located just up from the popular beach at Polkerris, which featured in The Sun's Britain's 50 best beaches in July 2014. Close by are many lovely walks - coastal, riverside and inland. The spectacular international attraction of the Eden Project is only four miles away, as the crow flies.
A two-minute stroll down a hedge-lined lane will take you to the sandy private beach, complete with harbour wall, rock pools, watersports centre, cafe, the renowned Rashleigh Inn and 'Sams on the Beach', a very popular and stylish restaurant.
Polkerris is popular with parents, who tell us that their children can enjoy a degree of freedom here that they may not have at home or on a big, impersonal caravan site.
