The Cottage sleeps up to six with one double bedroom on the ground floor, and one double and one twin upstairs.
The living room is a light and airy space arranged around an Aga glass-fronted, multi-fuel stove. Comfortable sofas and sturdy hand-painted furniture. Board games and a varied selection of books from biographies to local history. A separate place to eat overlooking the garden. Wi-Fi is available in the cottage.
It has a kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor (both with a natural slate floor), utility room and a centrally heated games room with pool table and table tennis table. The games room can double as a good sized drying room.
The sitting room and dining area has a stripped pine floor and an Aga glass-fronted multi-fueled stove. There's also an efficient oil-fired central heating system throughout the cottage.
There's a large, enclosed, well-planted and secure courtyard at the back of the house, equipped with garden furniture and a mobile barbecue. Beyond this is an eighty yard garden.
A high chair and travel cot can be provided on request.

Woodpecker Cottage is in the small conservation village of Bladnoch, Dumfries and Galloway, one mile from Wigtown, Scotland's national booktown. It is set amidst magnificent scenery in the heart of one of the most beautiful and quiet corners of Scotland.
A sympathetically restored early 19th century cottage which is within two minutes walk of a pleasant child-friendly pub and restaurant and Scotland's most southerly distillery (with regular tours and whisky tasting). There's an attractive golf course a couple of minutes drive away with plenty of others in the area.
This part of Galloway has a network of villages surrounded by farms and woodland. It's rich in wildlife and includes nesting ospreys and peregrines. There are plenty of quiet sandy beaches (ten minutes drive), unspoilt harbours, excellent sea fishing and safe havens for boating.
The Galloway Forest Park, with internationally acclaimed mountain bike runs, is nearby. There's a cinema in market town of Newton Stewart and beyond that the wilderness of the Galloway hills, ideal for serious walkers. Ramblers looking for gentler exercise are also well provided for.
