Heron's Rest

Rockford, North Devon, EX35 6PT

Riverbank cottage within the small hamlet of Rockford.
Sitting directly on the banks of The East Lyn River, Heron's Rest is a 2 bedroomed, dog friendly self catering holiday cottage within the small hamlet of Rockford. Open all year round for guests to experience all four seasons of the beautiful Exmoor landscape.

The cottage is best described as 'compact', but benefits from private off-road parking for one vehicle adjoining the property, and a patio area directly overlooking The East Lyn River. If river conditions are favourable, and it is the correct time of the year, it is possible to catch sight of the occasional salmon migrating up-river to spawn.

Other benefits and comforts of Heron's Rest include underfloor heating/electric radiators throughout, which can be adjusted for personal preference and is included in the rental cost. All the floors are tiled so that dog owners do not need to worry about muddy paw prints. In the kitchen area there is a ceramic hob, electric oven, refrigerator with small freezer compartment, microwave and automatic washer/dryer.

The lounge area has an LED Smart TV with built-in Freesat and Netflix, Blu-Ray player and CD player. There is also unlimited free internet access. Bedroom 1 features a King-size bed, and bedroom 2 has two single beds. In the bathroom there is a shower-bath and heated towel rail. All bed linen and towels are provided.

We feel it is best to mention that the nearest shops for any provisions, such as milk, bread or newspapers, are 4 miles away in Lynton. However, both local pubs, The Rockford Inn and The Staghunters Inn (one mile away in Brendon), usually serve food at lunchtimes and evenings. It is advisable to book ahead for the evenings.
Heron's Rest is located within Exmoor National Park, in the tiny hamlet of Rockford. Directly on the banks of the East Lyn river.

With river frontage, and directly opposite a well respected, traditional Exmoor country pub serving food most lunchtimes and evenings.

Heron's Rest also benefits from being located in arguably the most picturesque area of Exmoor National Park, just inland from The Exmoor Heritage Coast. The Lorna Doone Valley, Watersmeet, Lynton & Lynmouth and the stunning scenery from the Northern section of the South West Coast Path, are all within walking distance of the cottage.
