The Allerford Museum West Somerset Rural Life, is housed in the local village school which opened in 1821 and ran for 160 years. When you enter the museum you will be transported back in time. You will probably recognise objects used daily by your parents or grandparents. Browse among the varied artefacts from local homes, farms and industry of the past. We have rural trade displays including a dairy, blacksmiths and cider makers.

Step back in time in our Victorian school room, with the original desks and slates. Children may dress up in smocks, waistcoats and caps. Enjoy browsing through the photographic archives featuring local people and villages from days gone by.

Midway between Minehead and Porlock. Located next to the West Country Blacksmiths, a working Forge in the pretty village of Allerford.
