Dun Na Cuaiche Watchtower

Dun Na Cuaiche Watchtower, Inveraray, Argyll, Scotland

Dun Na Cuaiche Watchtower - historic hilltop viewpoint with spectacular views over Inveraray Castle and Loch Fyne.

Dun Na Cuaiche Watchtower stands high above Inveraray and is one of the area's most distinctive landmarks. The striking stone tower was built in the 18th century as a picturesque feature within the grounds of Inveraray Castle and occupies a commanding position on the hill overlooking the town, castle and surrounding landscapes of Argyll.

The watchtower is reached by a woodland walk that climbs steadily from the Inveraray Castle estate towards the summit of Dun Na Cuaiche. The route passes through attractive woodland before emerging at the tower, where visitors are rewarded with panoramic views across Inveraray Castle, the town of Inveraray, Loch Fyne and the surrounding hills. The viewpoint is particularly popular with walkers and photographers.

The walk involves a sustained uphill climb with steep and uneven sections, so sturdy footwear is recommended and the route may not be suitable for visitors with limited mobility. The watchtower itself provides a memorable destination at the end of the climb, with its combination of historic interest and outstanding views making Dun Na Cuaiche one of the most rewarding walks around Inveraray.
