Lakeside Lodges in Holsworthy - Mill Farm Devon Holidays offer a unique self catering holiday experience like no other.
Some self-catering accommodation options offer complimentary toiletries, others offer tea and coffee for free, but at Mill Farm's three lakeside lodges and an alpaca experience is part of the deal.
This rural retreat on the Devon-Cornwall border offers a little taste of laid-back country life and a great big dose of the outdoors. And it does it all without compromising on comfort. You can feed your hosts' six alpacas, fish on the lake and have a campfire under the stars before bedding down in the comfortable surroundings of your private lakeside lodge.
Each of the three lodges offers self-catering stays for up to four people, with two bedrooms and ample living space that's been decorated in modern style. Two are timber-clad lodges, Kingfisher and Owl, whose spectacular open-plan living spaces have a fully-glazed wall offering views over a fenced lakeside garden.
Otter Cottage is their brick-built neighbour, which also has views of the lake from the floor-to-ceiling windows of its lounge-diner - and, outside, from its deck. There's a couple of jetties on the lake from which guests are welcome to fish (if you have a rod licence) and there's a field with a picnic bench, a fire pit and great views over the countryside.
Fishing is exclusively for Mill Farm guests, (a valid rod licence is required). If you wander around the lake and up into the field, you will find a picnic bench with amazing views over the surrounding countryside, and a campfire area with a firebowl for toasting marshmallows in the evening. (A campfire kit is supplied). You can also watch the alpacas grazing in their field.

Sandymouth Bay
We're very fortunate to have this amazing beach as our 'local', as it's less than 10 miles from us here at Mill Farm!
It's a National Trust beach and it's just a short walk from their car park, as is the cafe, which serves great coffee and food. The beach is particularly popular with families and surfers and also dog owners, as it's dog friendly all year round.
Clovelly is a beautiful and historic harbour village, with a steep cobbled main street, traditional architecture, donkeys and views of the Bristol Channel.
You could easily spend an entire day at Tamar Lakes, paddle boarding, canoeing or simply walking around the lakes on a nature trail.
It's a great place for the kids to burn off some energy, undertake some activities and learn some new skills. They also offer angling tuition, tackle hire and there's a bait shop too.
Then if all that's worn you out, you can have a leisurely coffee in the Frog Hopper cafe whilst enjoying the views from the balcony.
Less than a 5 minute walk away is the thriving village of Bradworthy and our excellent local. We can testify that the food and atmosphere are lovely, try the Sunday carvery but be sure to book as it's very popular.
Just a short "drive" (sorry) away is the well regarded, 18 hole ,Holsworthy Golf Club.
Offering a warm welcome to guests this friendly club has its own clubhouse offering locally sourced homemade food.
