Shetland Isles - Bed and Breakfast Accommodation

The Shetland Islands are the most northerly point of Scotland. Shetland is made up of more than a hundred islands with only 15 being inhabited by humans, these include Fair Isle, Foula, Out Skerries and Papa Stour. Shetlands capital and the only town is Lerwick which lies roughly at the centre of Mainland Shetland. Transport links to and from Shetland are excellent with NorthLink ferries linking Lerwick with Aberdeen and Kirkwall of Orkney. Also inter-island ferries operate on a frequent basis. With activities such as Golfing, Cycling, Fishing and Sailing, there is plenty to do when visiting Shetland.

Shetland is home to Europes largest colony of Otters. Tiny Shetland Ponies roam free and there are also fabulous Seal and Seabird colonies to be studied. Shetland is also famous for its lace, Shetland Lace, an accepted term for the very fine and elaborate lace knitting produced in the Shetland Isles from the 19th century onwards. Shetland Geotours offers guided tours and walks around the Isles.
