A visit to Kylemore Abbey, ( the No. 1 visitor attraction in the West of Ireland ) is not to be missed. Here you can learn the history of a truly magnificent abbey which started life as a castle in 1867 but in 1920 became an abbey and is the oldest of the Irish Benedictine Abbeys. After a walk round the extensive walled gardens you can then enjoy refreshments in the Tea Rooms.
